Charlee turned four this year and for her birthday i asked her what she wanted to do and she said she wanted a piggy party, but ONLY if she could have REAL piggies at her party. and of course i said... no problem!!!

so here are some pictures of her pink and purple pig party...

We ended up going to a place called center grove orchard. its basically a huge farm that we can play on!!!

For the party i made charlee some super cute princess pig cake pops!!! they turned out pretty cute and tasted pretty good too:)

SOOO... around here we had halloween on sunday night, so instead of trick or treating on the regular night we just hit up both our ward trunk or treat and jordan's parent's ward trunk or treat:)

charlee was jessie from toy story and jett was buzz.

there was another girl in our ward, laura, that dressed up as jessie too:) they looked pretty cute together:)

So, i just finished this mural today for a couple who are expecting their first baby. i think it turned out pretty cute:) its got a corn field and winnie the pooh and the giving tree and boy and the guess how much i love you bunnies, and the hungry caterpillar, and the cat in the hat and lots of fun little accents thoughout:)

Something had to give this year so we decided to stay close to Helena for Labor Day weekend. Here are a couple pictures from our weekend at Park Lake. It wasn't the Big Horn, but we still killed a few things and had a good time!

The Matthews family is at it again!!! we have been to nauvoo the bahamas utah bozeman and back and here are some of the pictures to show from it all:)

and i think we had ice cream almost every day!!!

and on our last day in bozeman we were able to stop and see paige. mom made her some cupcakes for her birthday and i was glad that we were delayed long enough to say happy birthday:)

overall we were sooo happy to go home and see everyone!!! and after a three day delay with our flight, we finally made it home:)

but, overall, we had loads of fun!!! first we went to florida, then we went to a marlins game, then we went to the beach, then we ate some food, then we went on a cruise, then we got to the bahamas, then we went to the beach, then we went parasailing, then we went to the beach, then we went to the pool, then we got sunburned, then we ate some more, then we went on a cruise again, and then we went shopping, and then we came home fully relaxed and full of sunshine:) loved it!!!

This is the tattoo that my friend Luca got. It says Page and James...yes, he misspelled Paige's name and he didn't think to ask me how to spell it until after it was done. In the tattoo Paige is represented by the mystical Phenix and I am a dragon. I get the Phenix part, read Harry Potter to understand what a Phenix does but I am not sure why I am a dragon.

This is my favorite food in Italy, it is called a Panzerrotti, Paige and I loved these things but the last time we were there the one shop we like to buy them at was closed. Since Paige missed it last time I ate two in her honor.

So here are this year's birds in the nest. They are almost ready to fly out. If you're wondering why one of the birds looks like Joss, it's because she carried that egg around in her pocket for the better part of a day. (If you wonder why the smashed goo on Sophie's pants look like Sophie, it's because she carried the egg around in her pocket for the better part of a day.)

A little flooding in Helena

The first video is the results of 10 Mile Creek flooding about a mile away from us. This is the last mile of my drive home - at least until the road block and detour. The houses across the street from us are all built on the old stream bed that used to be (and is again currently) 10 Mile Creek. They are waist deep in water and swimming in their basements. The second video is walking down to the end of our road....

We put sand bags around our window wells last night. I guess we'll be getting a free horseshoe pit when this is all said and done - assuming there is a place to put one!! But, all is well here! We're sitting pretty so far!

This is the end o our road to the north of our house this morning. Gunner is loving our beach-front property!

Memorial Day Weekend

Jessie joined our eternal family on Friday at the Billings Temple.

From the temple we drove to Yellowstone Park for the annual fishing trip at the fire hole. It was snowy and a little cold, but we managed to have a great time as usual!

This was one of our favorite weekends, when James and Esme came to visit. We were able to capture this rare picture of Esme having a snack.

Coloring Easter Eggs. None of us really eat a lot of hard boiled eggs, so we didn't make a lot, but the kids still thought it was pretty fun.

So, we have had quite a bit of stuff happening recently and here are some pics to catch you up...

at the mall in des moines they have an outdoor exhibit where we got to pet a skunk, a baby bear, and a cougar.

i have definitely been falling behind on my pics to put up on the family blog!!! good thing reid and mishel (or probably mostly mishel:) keep posting pics so that i have some idea of whats going on...

anyways, here are some lately pics of the matthews kids.

Charlee LOVES to play dress ups. in fact she will probably wear about 10 dresses each day. its a great joy to clean up after her... ok, not really.

but here was one of her latest outfits that she put together. it actually reminds me of one of the shirley temple movies. i think "curly top?" where shirley temple is hula dancing on the beach in her skirt and lai... shirtless.

jett is just too cute. he loves to have his picture taken even though he is almost always covered in some kind of slime... drool, snot... you get the idea.

Gunner did an excellent job pointing and holding on birds for Jeremy and I. Unless we were level with Gunner, he would hold his point, making hunting and capturing video very easy. Watching Gunner work was as fun as shooting the pheasants.

We had 7 pheasants planted and "harvested" 6 of them. One lucky rooster weaved through lead shot as I was recording. That video didn't make the blog cut.

Jesse, Tricia, Sophie, and Shelby came to visit us this weekend and we had a blast! Reid's plane was delayed and he missed his flight, but they were still able to get a little ice fishing in before the weekend was over. Shelby was very helpful with Jessie and made sure she was always rocking in her swing and that she had a pacifier. Sophie made the best homemade ice cream we have ever had!

And Tricia and I scored some great treasures at the thrift stores in town!

So here is the one of many dresses that i inherited from Paige. then while shopping in montana mom and i found a matching dress for charlee. i was hesitant about the dress for charlee because it was a size 5, and i thought it would be waaay to big. but mom always knows best. she got it anyways and it actually fit charlee just fine:) so this is us in our cute matchie outfits on the sunday after christmas.

Life is Too Short Tour 2011

"Hey Kids, You just saw your grandparents for the first time since July. What are you going to do next?"

"WE'RE GOING TO DISNEYLAND!"

That's pretty much how it went. Saturday morning we decided to do it and we were on our way! There are lots of pictures so I hope you're comfortable and ready to share our memories!

We had so much fun. Olive had a major blowout the first day, so she spent most of the coldest part of the day in her new sweatshirt and Shawn's t-shirt that we made into a hoodie/pants. She didn't seem to mind.

You couldn't write a prescription for anything that would've been better medicine. It was wonderful to be together in the Happiest Place on Earth. The kids loved it and loved seeing all their favorite characters. The Buzz Lightyear ride seemed to be a favorite - Dad had over 700,000 points on one Buzz ride, so he won himself a Disney wearable (the prize was sponsored by himself). It was nice to feel happy and see how excited the kids would get over everything. We missed having everyone with us, but I'm sure sheetrocking Jesse's basement and weaning Charlee from her pacifier was just as great. (although, I want to make it clear that no one else is allowed fun vacations without the O'Learys!)

We are one month away from the closing date in our building contract so I thought I would post a few pictures of our new duplex. Below are a couple pictures of what the inside of each unit will look like. There are a few differences between these pictures and what ours will actually look like, but they are really close.

All the bathrooms will look almost exactly like this (minus the weird flowers in the tub...)

The bedrooms will look about like this. We did not get the fancy ceilings in our duplex.

This picture shows you the cupboards, counter tops and layout we will have in our duplex. We will have tile instead of wood and we won't have the sliding doors or the pantry pictured above.

I am pretty sure our living room won't come with the Bose stereo system and TV installed, but it will have vaulted ceilings and a good size window like this picture has.

This is all we have so far, but I was told that they are still on track to finish on time.....we'll see! They had started framing in unit 1 when I was there on Wednesday, but had not gotten to our unit yet.

It will be nice to unpack (finally) and to be done with this in about a month. It has been an interesting process and we are very excited about the long-term possibilities that come with this.

Now to find the perfect renters!

Joss was a beautiful bird - it's hard to see her whole costume here, but it was adorable (if I do say so myself!)

Olive was a loud, crazy, out of control 18 month old who would stay at the door and continue waving until the people giving out candy felt awkward shutting the door on her.

This makes him look like a pirate with scurvy.

It was a great weekend, despite all the craziness that happened that weekend. Happy Halloween! Bring on the rest of the Holidays!

This past satuday jordan and i ran the des moines race for the cure.

i think there was about 23,000 runners that day... this is a picture of the sea of people...

Havre

Well, Reid and I headed back to Havre last weekend to hunt and so Reid could play in the Alumni game at Northern.

Gunner got his first taste of pheasant hunting and he did really well.

It is really fun to watch him point and flush the birds. He actually did really really well too! They are still a little big for him to bring back, but he tried.

We went hunting with Kayleen Hockett all day and did really well. Everyone had been telling us that the pheasant numbers were down and that they would be really hard to find. So we were pretty happy with 4 pheasants and a few sharptails.

Here are a few shots from the Alumni game. It was fun to watch the "old guys" beat the current team.

The ending score was 68 to 71.

K... so Jett turned 1 year old on Monday:) and he had a basketball party.

We've had a few fun days since we've posted last, so I'm just throwing them all in together.

Here is Joss at her first day of Preschool. She picked out her own pack-pack, just the right size so it doesn't hit her butt when she walks - this was a very important feature.

Olive was sitting right next to me and colored all over herself while I was working. She is efficient. She covered herself in 5 colors very quickly. She also managed to keep her bib nice and clean!

This was the last of many 3rd birthday parties for Jackson. the melting mess in the background was supposed to be the inner-tube, but it didn't work out quite like I had it planned in my head!

Shawn and I were able to celebrate our monumental 10 year anniversary in Phoenix, without kids. We managed to get the coldest wettest day in Phoenix for our waterpark day. We still had fun!

So jill, jordan's litte sister, recently painted her room to a pretty pink. her theme is the nursery rhyme "with rings on her fingers and bells on her toes, she shall have music wherever she goes." so this is jill's silhouette blowing music note bubbles...

this pic is a bit out of place, but we went to the iowa state fair, and charlee visited some baby piggies and earned her pig ears!!! the piggies were her favorite part:)

We were able to go to nauvoo for a weekend and these are a couple shots at the nauvoo temple and in front of Joseph, Emma, and Hyrum Smith's graves.

These are the kids that I was working with this summer in a program called You Got Served. These middle school kids volunteered for a 5 week program to do community service. My group pulled brush at Spring Meadow Lake, played games and painted finger nails at nursing homes, helped out at an animal rehab center, created 4 oral history projects on local veterans, and held a car wash and donated the money to the St. Peters Foundation for cancer. It was a pretty cool program. This picture was taken at our celebration on the last day!

This is one of the two teams I am coaching. This was 80's day at choreography camp. These girls are really good and a lot of fun, but they are going to keep me on my toes! I am also coaching the youth team which are 7-10 year old girls.

Last night on our walk Gunner found a dead bird. He snatched it up and would not let go!
